The tins were given to the soldiers in the trenches for Christmas 1914. They contained chocolates but once they had been eaten the tins could be used to store letters from home, money etc.
I want to make something similar but have to research into how to adapt the tin into something villagers would use.
I found some detailed photographs of the tins on Ebay and started sketching.
